About Special Beds

Special needs safety beds supplied through insurance

Special beds are enclosed safety beds for children and adults whose condition makes an ordinary bed unsafe, such as autism, epilepsy, cerebral palsy, Angelman or Rett syndrome, brain injury or dementia. Padded rails, mesh or soft enclosures keep the person from falling, climbing or wandering at night, while caregivers can still see and reach them.

We supply the Cubby Bed, the SleepSafe® range (LOW, II MEDIUM, SleepSafer® TALL, Extension and InSight) and the Courtney Bed. These beds are supplied only through Medicaid and health insurance when a doctor prescribes them.

Healthcare DME is in network with Medicaid in Alaska, Arizona (AHCCCS), Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Montana, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Utah and Washington, and with major Michigan health plans including Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, Blue Care Network, Blue Cross Complete, Meridian, McLaren and HAP. Learn how coverage works, compare the beds and check your eligibility, or call (734) 975-6668.
